I am doing this not just to ensure Camarillo is a great place for my family but for every family and person in our community. I am a leader that works with everyone; A leader that encourages and welcomes engagement; A leader that values transparency and expanding accessibility.

About Bev

Director Dransfeldt serves on the following committees and boards:

  • Finance

  • Long-Range Planning

  • Pickleball Ad Hoc

  • Foundation for Pleasant Valley Recreation & Parks

  • Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Board

  • VCTC Citizen Transportation Advisory Committee (City of Camarillo Appointed)

Raised on a farm in a small town and working in the fields with her immigrant mother, Bev Dransfeldt developed an unyielding work ethic from an early age. Much of her childhood was spent getting involved with the renowned youth development program 4-H, where she became a youth board member for the California 4-H Foundation and State Ambassador. She later put her industriousness to the test, working her way through college at the University of California, Berkeley. A combination of hard-earned scholarships, financial aid and five jobs helped pay the tuition, while her passion for music and government enabled her to earn a degree in Political Science.
Over the past decade, she has made a name for herself in the business world as a music tour marketing & special events manager for Capitol Records, served as an administrative clerk for the City of Thousand Oaks Cultural Affairs Department, and as a Recreation Specialist of Outdoor Education & Camps for Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District. In 2020, Bev was elected as a Director for the Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park Board.
She and her husband Cory, a Camarillo native whose great-grandfather was the first Fire Chief in the Firehouse in Old Town Camarillo, knew that Camarillo would be the home for their growing family. Bev is a mother to 2 children, 3 rescue pups, and a guinea pig named Moo Moo. Cory and Bev just celebrated their 10-year anniversary. As a family, their core memories are rooted in PVRPD parks, programs, classes and events.
Bev Dransfeldt is asking for your vote in November to re-elect her to the Board of Directors. She will continue making progress through community, collaboration and connection. As a Director, she has worked to make the District financially solvent (even through COVID), preserve our parks, and provide a stable foundation for current and future generations. “I am doing this not just to ensure Camarillo is a great place for my family but for every family and person in our community. I am a leader that works with everyone; A leader that encourages and welcomes engagement; A leader that values transparency and expanding accessibility.”

Recreation and parks is a central part of me and my family’s life. Our fondest memories have taken place at various parks throughout the years. We participate in all the District has to offer from classes, events, and hosting our own family events in parks - it’s all been such a joy. PVRPD provides opportunities to connect with the community.

MY HUSBAND, CORY, AND I JUST CELEBRATED OUR 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. HIS FAMILY INCLUDES HISTORICAL LEADERS IN VENTURA COUNTY FROM EUGENE PUTNAM (THE FIRST CAMARILLO FIRE CAPTAIN) TO JEAN SPENCER (THE PEARL HUNTING COLUMNIST & OXNARD COLLEGE’S FIRST FEMALE PIO). HIS AUNTS & UNCLES (HELEN, EUGENIA, JOHN & ROGER PUTNAM) HAD THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO GROW UP IN THE CAMARILLO FIREHOUSE.

Finding out we’d be having a baby boy.
